Smart Modules in HubSpot Sequences

I wish HubSpot had smart modules in sequences similar to those in marketing emails. This would allow me to dynamically change the video without duplicating the sequence multiple times. The main concern is not the initial edits, but having to make changes multiple times if the sequence is cloned. It would be great if there was a way to make a change once and have it apply across all instances.

Hi Mackenzie Burckbuchler, thanks for sharing this. To make sure we’re scoping it correctly, are you looking for something like HubSpot “smart modules” but specifically for the Sendspark video block inside HubSpot Sequences, so the video can change dynamically without cloning sequences?
A few quick questions to understand the exact workflow and requirements:
1) What should drive the “smart” logic: contact properties (persona, lifecycle stage, industry), list membership, deal properties, or something else?
2) When you say “dynamically change the video,” do you mean:
- Different video per segment (one of several predefined videos), or
- A single “master” video reference that you can swap once and it updates everywhere it’s used?
3) Where do you want to manage the mapping: inside HubSpot (like a module rule builder) or inside Sendspark (a rule set that HubSpot pulls from)?
4) Is the bigger pain point updating cloned sequences, or also keeping 1 to 1 personalization (like name overlays) while swapping the underlying video?
5) How many sequences and variants are typical for you (for example, 5 sequences with 3 variants each, or much larger)?
If you can share one concrete example (the segments and which video each should get), we can better evaluate what’s feasible and what an ideal “change once, update everywhere” setup would look like for your use case.

Abe Dearmer Hi Abe, to answer your first question, yes I mean specifically for the video block inside HubSpot sequences.
1) Ideally, a contact or company property for our purposes. List membership would also work though since it can be based then on really any contact association (company, deal, etc.)
2) Different video per segment. Basically, in my case, what's happening is that we our Sales team all uses the same sequence for some outreach, but of course different Sales people are assigned to different accounts, so we want the sales person to be the one in the video since they'll be the sender. So each sales person will record the same video, and the video will be placed in exactly the same place in the sequence. But, since each person's dynamic video has to be part of a different campaign and the embed code for the Sendspark depends on the campaign, we have to duplicate the sequence multiple times, just replacing the code block for the Sendspark block for each person. Let me know if that doesn't make sense.
3) Ideally this would be mapped in Hubspot.
4) Updating clones sequences and ensuring the video sent to the contact features the account owner who is also the sender.
5) I'd say, 3 sequences maybe for right now with 20 variants per sequence. But, there's a potential to add more sequences (and variants) in the future.
